The Outtie Crowd

Seven months pregnant. That sounds really pregnant to me. She has 10.5 more weeks of growing to do, and D and I have 10.5 more weeks to "prepare." We cannot wait to meet her, although it still seems surreal. She gets the hiccups quite frequently... I love that little reminder that she's in there... A precious little baby.


This really might gross you out. Just think...there's a baby in there!

Rose Family Hits Music City

We traveled with Donald's family to Nashville last weekend. It was the annual Rose Family Presidents Weekend trip, and this year we visited cousins Thomas (Jay) and Dita who graciously welcomed the invasion from South Carolina. D and I counted 22 of us, which makes exactly half of the Rose family (granddaddy down). A few of the things we did... toured Fisk University, visited a Farmer's Market, and paraded through Opry Mills (mall) as well as Opryland (ginormous hotel). I also must mention that the 15-passenger van got stuck in the mud for about five hours (AAA was no help), and all of the wonderful men in the family made the women a steak and potato dinner Saturday night in honor of Valentines Day. We had a great time... it was weird to think that during next year's trip, we will have a nine-month old and Jay and Dita will have a six-month old!! Wow!!

Babies and Parties

Two of my friends had babies last week. Brady Marcus entered the world on Tuesday, February 5th, and Maggie Charis, on Friday, February 8th. Maggie and Baby Girl Spann are destined to be friends, whether they like it or not, because her parents are good friends of ours from college who will remain good friends forever. Brady and Baby Girl Spann are destined to date, marry, or at least be friends until being friends with boys is icky (and vice versa). Yes, yes, I know I can't determine the destiny of my daughter's friendships... it's just fun to speculate. SO- welcome Maggie and Brady!!
Donald added a twist to this year's Super Bowl Party by suggesting that everyone wear something to represent their favorite team, whether NFL, college or high school. A lot of people showed up decked out... It was fun! I wore D's high school jersey, and although it actually fit me (as opposed to any Gamecock or CofC gear that I own), it still looked like a muumuu (yes, that's how you spell muumuu). Does he look surprised?

A Look at Our Sweetie

Today our moms came up from Charleston and the four of us, after a very satisfying meal at Brick Street Cafe, went to see Baby Girl Spann in 3D/4D form. She had both legs stretched up in front of her face almost the entire time, and we think we even witnessed her trying to suck her toes! The first several minutes of the ultrasound didn't seem very promising because she had her right arm across her face, the umbilical chord as well, and then her cute little feet blocking all views. She appears to be stubborn like her mama because she really didn't move that arm the entire time! However, we got some great shots (90!), and our favorites are posted on our web site. We were able to see her fingers, toes, mouth, nose, elbows, and eyes... She yawned, stretched, and even stuck her tongue out! She appeared to be holding onto her ear at one point, and and later embraced her legs like she was about to do a cannonball. She is such a little miracle. We praise God for you, little girl, and we can't wait to meet you!
